Here is our 1993 Ford Mustang SVT Cobra. In addition to being the last year for the Fox-body style, it was the first vehicle engineered and designed by Ford’s new Special Vehicle Team or SVT. Announced at the 1992 Chicago Auto Show, the Cobra added 30 horsepower over the standard GT through the use of larger valves, a different camshaft, GT40 cylinder heads, higher-volume fuel injectors, and an improved intake port design. This made for quarter-mile times in the low 14-second range at a speed of around 100 MPH, and a top speed of 140 MPH. A total of 4,993 Cobras were made in 1993, with exterior color choices of Black, Vibrant Red, Vibrant Red Clearcoat, or this Teal Metallic you see here.

Outside of the engine, there were many small changes over the GT. The wheels were unique, and the 17' directional aluminum wheels were the largest ever fitted to any Mustang to date. It also featured disc brakes all around with rear brakes sourced from the 1987-1988 Thunderbird Turbo Coupe and had specially made shocks and struts made by Tokico. Power went to the rear wheels through a strengthened five-speed manual and a Traction-Lok differential.

This new arrival is an outstanding Teal Metallic with Opel Grey Leather and has less than 40 original miles. It is optioned with the power-adjustable driver’s seat, air conditioning, and a factory cassette stereo. The window sticker price shows $20,902 and was delivered when new to Premier Ford Lincoln Mercury in Columbus, Mississippi. We are happy to add this unique last year Fox-body Mustang to the growing museum collection.
