Mercury could finally claim its own exclusive body in 1957, and they marked the occasion with the a bold chrome "M" between the bumper and the front grille and other bold styling cues to separate the car from Fords and Lincolns. If the car’s 255-horse 312 CI engine was not enough, buyers could order the convertible with a power top, power steering and brakes, outside mirrors, Whitewall tires and fender skirts.
