Video Description

The 1980s weren't great for American made performance cars, but there were a few exceptions including this 1986 Dodge Omni GLHS. Todd McCarty from the museum discusses some of the history of the car and the specifics of our all original example. Carroll Shelby worked his magic on this otherwise simple commuter car. The 2.2 liter 4 cylinder had a help from a turbo which made for 175hp. While that may not be a ton, the car went 0-60 in 6.5 seconds and was faster than in the quarter mile than Camaros and Firebirds with 305 V8 from the same year.
