On Sunday, November 5th, the Viera High School Marching Hawks held their fundraiser for new Marching Band uniforms. The uniforms that are being used are the original ones from when Viera High School opened in 2006. Needless to say, they are in rough shape and need to be replaced.
The cost for all the new uniforms was over $120k, half of which was raised by the students and staff before the event, and the remaining was raised on Sunday through sponsorships, ticket sales, and the live auction. Now, the Marching Hawks have secured enough to get new uniforms!
Huge thanks to Michelle and Gerry Tieri for all their hard work! They were the reason for this event getting on our calendar and worked incredibly hard to make it a success. Many local business showed their support, many of whom were new to the museum. As in the past, Sheriff Wayne Ivey stopped by auctioning off a pair of SWAT team experiences, raising around $5,000 alone. Wassis Meats also donated another Big Green Egg, one of nearly a dozen they have contributed to our Brevard charity events here over the years.
Thanks also to the Marching Hawks for their hard work and fantastic performances throughout the evening. Here is a look at the event!
